Zardari deputes Khan as special envoy to Kosovo


Karachi—President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday deputed State Minister for Foreign Affairs Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan as his special envoy to Kosovo.

Pakistan has recently recognized Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state.

According to Spokesman to President Senator Farhatullah Babar, Khan was deputed to the capital of Kosovo, Pristina, to personally convey to Kosovian President Atifete Jahjaga the decision of the Government of Pakistan to recognize the Republic of Kosovo as an independent country. According to the spokesperson, President Zardari, in a letter addressed to his Kosovian counterpart said Pakistan’s decision to accord recognition to Kosovo was made in support of the aspiration of the people of Kosovo who have made immense sacrifices for the independence of their country.

The President said Islamabad had decided to establish diplomatic relations with Kosovo and Pakistan’s ambassador Turkey would be concurrently accredited as Pakistan’s envoy to Kosovo.
